Actually, Mass Effect 3 charged for randomized packs of stuff in the multiplayer. So, done wrong.
no it didn't. it gave FREE multiplayer expansions and every item could be unlocked just by play using credits you got for playing online, you COULD use money to buy the same packs but that wasn't DLC and was purely optional and is what the OP has asked for, the option to gain the same things via play. Single player most was pointless and more damage to the game than addition.
Now to the commanders; the amount of test work, the development time for the patches and all the other content it's no different then paying $30 for an old school expansion. hell a lot of games the season pass ends up adding 50% to the games cost! and right now Relics in a bad state from THQ stealing a large chunk of the pre-order money.
Again show you some basic maths game costs £29.99, pretending that Relic got all of it not counting the shop and tax saying they got all of that money going by UK minimum wage of £6.31 that only pays for 4.75 hours of paid work. So they need to sell 2 games to pay 1 guy for 1 days work.
Seriously though, I think what Relic is doing, is allowing fans to support it. As long as it's non-essential stuff I'm OK with it. They could even sell mugs or T-shirts or whatever. Skins are fine. Commanders are borderline, I'm OK with them as long as they aren't clearly better than stock commanders and as long as we get a variety of stock ones so we're not bored with same 3 ones over and over.
